Dateline – August 13, 2012
Have you ever made a to-do list and included tasks that you had already completed, just so you could mark them off the list? I think everybody has done so at one time or the other. There is just something very satisfying about marking a job done well as finished.
Well, this wish list is going to be a little like that. I’ve been sitting on this docket of birds for a long time now, and an extremely productive spring and summer birding season have helped me check off several of the more exotic species.
So, here it is, my wish list of birds that I really, really want to see and photograph. Some of these birds are rare, others are nocturnal, and others still are seasonal, but they all should be observable under the right circumstances. The only kicker is that these birds have to be seen in one of the five North Texas counties covered by this web site (Collin, Dallas, Denton, Rockwall, Tarrant).
That is where you come in. If you live in one of these counties, and are aware of a reliable and repeatable observation opportunity for any of the birds in the list below, please let me know. I can be reached via any of the contact facilities provided by this web site: comments, email, Facebook, and Twitter.
Of course, interesting reports of any wildlife observation are always welcome! Never hesitate to contact me with one in your part of town!
Let’s work together and get these birds documented! Here’s my wish list in photographs:
