I was getting ready to wind down a late afternoon hike when I first noticed this fine looking White-tailed Deer. The big buck emerged from the treeline on the far side of a Lewisville Lake floodplain and then jogged across in my general direction.
Fortunately, I was well concealed at the time, and the buck never noticed me. He stopped just as he reached my side of the floodplain and paused momentarily to have a quick look around before proceeding. Satisfied that everything was okay, the deer bounded up the rise and disappeared into the woods.
This was one nice looking deer. Big and muscular, with a thick neck, barrel chest, and narrow waist—they don’t come much better than this one!
Great pictures of a nice buck! Urban deer can get really big if they are left alone…
