These are winged reproductive Subterranean Termite (likely Reticulitermes) swarming as part of their mating ritual. Thousands of males and females participate. Successfully mated females will go on and attempt to establish new colonies of their own. These images were recorded in Fort Worth’s Arcadia Trails Park and come to us courtesy of Jeri Tooley.
