Red-eared Sliders will wander. They sometimes surprise me in the places they turn up. In this case I had parked my car next to vacant lot in a residential subdivision. I had exited the vehicle and had moved away in order to setup for a photography session. About thirty minutes later I returned to my car for some supplies, and found this turtle underneath it. I snapped a few quick pictures to document the novelty of the situation, then I grabbed what I came for, and returned to my previous project. When I wrapped up twenty minutes later, I found that the turtle had moved on and was now nowhere to be found. In that brief time the turtle had scaled a curb (I’m not certain on which side of the street), and then traversed an entire vacant lot in order to reach the unkempt fields beyond. Like I said, Red-eared Sliders like to wander.
