Walking through a dried stream bed in Old Alton Bridge Park, we found the ground alive with hundreds of these small Gulf Coast Toad toadlets. Each of these tiny juvenile toads would fit nicely within the diameter of a dime.

While the stream bed held no standing water, the sandy soil it was composed of was still quite moist.

It is interesting to note the variations of color and pattern on these young toads.
