These Red Paper Wasps were found and photographed under Old Alton Bridge in unincorporated central Denton County.
Old Alton Bridge is a historic iron bridge spanning Hickory Creek. It was first installed in the late 1800’s. Recently, the bridge has been incorporated into the trail system of a nearby park. It is only used for horse and foot traffic these days, but it still carried automobile traffic as late as 2001.
