These are pictures from my archives. They were taken at Lemmon Lake in the Joppa Preserve last summer when it still held water. Lemmon Lake dried completely just a few weeks after these pictures were taken, and it has not refilled in the interim.
When filled with water Lemmon Lake attracts a number of rare birds that are difficult to find in other places, regardless of if you look in the city or out. These are Woods Storks congregating in the low light of predawn in Dallas, Texas.
