I’ve reported on this Beaver once before, several years ago: Beaver – In a Business Park. This resourceful rodent has built his pond right in the middle of bustling business park in Garland, Texas.
The Beaver’s activities caused problems by plugging a drain pipe which was designed to accommodate the overflow of a small pond a few hundred yards/meters to the east. With the plug in place, a new pond formed in a location that would threaten nearby businesses if it continued to grow.
Evidently, and to their credit, the businesses in the area did not attempt to exterminate the Beaver. Instead they installed a metal mesh cage around the drain pipe in order to prevent the beaver from stopping it up again.
From the looks of things this effort was successful to a degree, but the Beaver is doing his darnedest to circumvent it. The mud packed around this metal cage was placed there by the Beaver. It is a perfectly square Beaver dam. The dam and the water level are high enough now that the busy little guy can insert material over the top of the cage. The Beaver will soon have this drain plugged again. Like I said, he is resourceful.
