This Yellow-Crowned Night Heron observation comes to us from Landon Cheatham in Richardson, Texas. This pair of newly fledged juveniles was raised in a tree in Landon’s front yard. They are frequently seen eating bugs from the residence’s flower beds.

  1. I was out for a walk the other night and saw one of these birds hunting bugs in a front yard on Seminole. I stood very still and it went about it’s business. It was a surprise to see a bird that large in the neighborhood.
