We found this little fledgling Blue Jay in the street just outside the kid’s grandparents’ house. The juvenile jay was under some shade, but it was way too hot for him to be this exposed on a concrete surface. Add to that the danger posed by passing cars, and we knew we had to do something.
We scooped up the little guy up and moved him under some nice shady bushes closer to the house. From the porch we waited to see what would happen next. Sure enough, after just a few minutes, the baby Blue Jay’s mother found the youngster in his new location. She was observed bringing him food again and again for the next hour or so.

Unbelievably cute. Glad to hear the parents were around. Fledging is such a vulnerable time for birds!
