    1. I have 5 of these in a tree over my house. It appears there are two adults and 3 chicks. One adult keeps watch from a second perch, while the other hunts and brings food back to the main nest. Two of the light blue eggs fell on my sidewalk a while back. There is a plethora of poo on my roof. However, they are very pretty. As a non-bird watcher, it took quite a bit of research to figure out what this was.

  1. We have two in a pecan tree in our front yard. I have not seen any chicks but they are leaving a huge mess in the street were the branch hangs over. We live in the Lake Highlands area near Walnut Hill and Audelia.

  2. I saw one yellow crowned night heron by Bachman lake. It jumped on shore with a ~7-8 inch long prawn. I recorded a video of it swallowing that prawn.

  3. We have one one our street in Plano. It stands in a front yard or on top of a roof. You can get quite close to it when it is in the yard. We see it on our nightly walks.

  4. Saw a yellow crowned night heron on my bridge in Southlake today. The yellow around the eye was very bright.

  5. Saw this beautiful bird in the Hackberry Creek neighborhood in Las Colinas near standing water on the golf course. It was quite distinct. Gorgeous bird. Saw it last night and again on an evening walk today.
