This observation took place while I was preparing to photograph a Red-tailed Hawk nest. I photograph the nest on a weekly basis, and I had setup at my regular location in front of the Richardson Municipal Court building. The hawks were not present on the nest at that time, but I knew they would soon return. I found a seat and began to wait.

I had just gotten comfortable when this fine fellow came lumbering out of the landscaping and into the parking lot. A rare daytime sighting of the usually nocturnal Opossum.

I took a few pictures of the ungainly looking creature and then left him to his business. I’m sure it was to his benefit to traverse the parking lot as rapidly as possible. I lost sight of him soon after.

The Opossum was attempting to cross a large parking lot. His objective was unclear.
