This Red-eared Slider was discovered in an unusual situation. There are two small ponds at this location. Heavy rains will sometime merge the two small pond to form a larger one, but when the water level is low the two ponds are distinct. In this state the two ponds are connected only by a thin ribbon of slowly flowing water.
In this observation, a Red-eared Slider was found making his way between the two ponds in the only way that really made sense—by following the connecting stream of water. Smart turtle!
