We observed a lone Wild Turkey Tom on the north side of State Highway 121 just east of the Trinity River bridges. He was foraging in the grass between the highway and the barbed wire fence surrounding the Lake Lewisville Environmental Learning Area (LLELA).
Later, I contacted a LLELA representative to report the sighting. He told me that the turkeys they re-introduced to the area in February 2005 had dispersed far and wide, but that many (and their offspring) were still in LLELA and doing well.
