The White-faced Ibis is one of my Wish List birds. I’m glad to finally get some photographs of them.
We came across this group of White-faced Ibises practically one bird at a time. We spotted the first adult bird in a cow pasture foraging next to what could only be described as a large puddle. A little further away we noticed a larger congregation of adults and juveniles.
Just then a flock of a dozen or more ibises flew in and landed with the others. The entire group went to work straight away foraging in and around the shallow water.
Adult and juvenile White-faced Ibises were well represented in this group. The adults are the birds sporting the red eye patch outlined in white. They also have the more colorful plumage. When the sunlight would fall on the adults just right it would light up their feathers and reveal a stunning iridescence of vivid greens, purples, and violets.
