I should have check the calendar before I went into the field early on the morning of Decemeber 22, 2012. It turns out that this date is the first day of the second Dove Hunting Season in North Texas. As the sun began to rise, the sounds of gunfire coming from nearby fields and bottomlands steadily increased.
Fortunately, none of the shooting was close enough for concern, and I was still able to setup with my camera. I positioned myself on the high bank of a small creek, and just waited to see what would come along.
Soon, the trees around me were filled with Mourning Doves drawn to the water for their morning drink.
