My first sighting of Turkey Vultures at the Village Creek Drying Beds was of a small group of migrating birds flying high in the sky.
It wasn’t long, however, before I discovered several more much close to the ground. A juvenile sitting in the trees along the north side of the property first caught my attention.
As I made my way over to him, I noticed several more vultures feed amongst the tall grass of an adjacent drying bed.
Soon more vultures joined the first group, including one that glided in directly over my position.
I never was able to determine just what it was the big black birds were feeding on.
