The sun was getting low in the sky and the shadow were getting long when I came across this young Raccoon high in a tree. This juvenile appeared to be in the process of rousing himself in preparation for a busy night of exploring and foraging.

The Raccoon had certainly spotted me long before I saw him, but he was safe and snug in his perch, and was therefore unconcerned by my approach. In fact, the youngster seemed to be quite curious about my picture taking activities. He changed positions frequently in order to have a better look at what I was doing.

We observed each other for approximately 10 minutes before the encroaching darkness encouraged me again to be on my way.
