Mute Swan - Josey Ranch Lake Park

These pictures come to us courtesy of Nancy Phillips. Nancy photographed these Mute Swans and their two cygnets at Josey Ranch Lake Park in Carrollton, Texas. At the park Nancy found two adults with two young positioned on the far side of the pond. Nancy took up station on the shore near a feeding Nutria

Mute Swan - Easy Street

This pair of Mute Swans has recently taken up residence at Woodlake Pond in Carrollton, Texas. These well-fed birds have quickly become accustomed to the regular feeding they get from the park’s many visitors, and they now appear to be quite tame. As I exited my car and approached the water’s edge the Mute Swans

This Mute Swan is a new arrival at McInnish Park in Carrollton, Texas. This individual was observed preening and interacting with a a buoy anchored in a small pond. The buoy is used to mark off a radio controled boat course. It appears the swan has somehow wrapped the buoy’s tether across the back of

We observed this solitary Mute Swan at Woodlake Pond in Carrollton, Texas. While we watched, it spent much of its time preening and primping. Later, when we examined the photographs we took of this beautiful bird we found something unusual. We spotted the strange behavior in some of the pictures taken while the swan was

We observed this solitary Mute Swan at McInnish Park in Carrollton. This swan has been on park property for two seasons. During this time the swan lived in the marshy areas on the west side of the park. The bird disappeared from the site in mid-September of 2012, possibly due to the marshes drying up

This is a follow up visit to two Mute Swans that I discovered in a remote small lake located in the southern part of The Colony. The lake these birds live on is located on a recently abandoned ranch. The question is whether these swans are wild birds or if they were brought to the

Mute Swan - A Pretty Pair

I discovered these two Mute Swans in a remote small lake located in the southern part of The Colony. Mute Swans are not native to our part of the country, so I suspect these are not wild birds. This lake in not part of a park, and the swans would have little opportunity to interact
