I spotted this Bobcat as he was almost 2/3 of the way up the slope of Lewisville Lake Dam. It was late in the evening and it was beginning to get dark. I was driving through the Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area when the Bobcat caught my attention.

The road I was on runs along the base of the dam, and I believed I could drive by the Bobcat’s position without disturbing him. Instead, the Bobcat became alarmed and then did something remarkable.

Rather than continuing up the dam, the Bobcat turned and ran DOWN the dam. This actually closed the distance between us, and when the Bobcat finally crossed the road he did so just a dozen yards/meters in front of my car.
