I was exploring in the Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area (LLELA) early one morning when I believed I heard a deer coming my way through the brush. I jumped off the trail, and tried to conceal myself under a low hanging tree so that I wouldn’t spook the whitetail as he approached.

Well, this tiny little Blue-gray Gnatcatcher would have none of it. This brazen little bird came right at me scolding all the way. He made so much noise that the deer—or whatever it was— turned back the way it had come.

This aggressive bird’s mood did not improve until I was back on the trail, and well on my way!
