These photographs were taken at the UTSWMC heron rookery in Dallas, Texas. Included in this collection are pictures of both adult and juvenile Anhingas. In this set most of the birds are recently fledged juvenile Anhingas. There is also a solitary adult Male represented.

  1. Very nice, Chris. “Snake birds.” “Water turkeys.” Those were the names I knew for Anhingas when I was a boy.

    1. Thanks, David. The UTSWMC rookery was good to the Anhingas this year. Lots of successful broods. I like these strange birds for some reason. I enjoy watching them fly through the air as they swarm over the rookery. I have never seen them in action on/in the water, though. Hope to soon!
