I got the drop on this young Coyote as I exited the woods at Harold Bacchus Park in Frisco, Texas. The Coyote had his back turned and was preoccupied with other business.

I was able to stand right out in the open as I observed this Coyote and he never noticed my presence. On a couple of occasions I was even surprised when he appeared to look in my general direction and still did not see me.

Eventually, the Coyote started on his way again. I photographed him numerous times as he walked across over 200 yards/meters of open field. Once on the other side he slipped into the tree line and disappeared from sight.

I quickly made an effort to close the distance between us in case the Coyote reappeared. Sure enough, just a few second later the Coyote came back out of the woods. We looked each other straight in the eyes from a distance of about 45 yards/meters—this time there was no question that the Coyote saw me! He turned and fled!
