A couple of us have been keeping watch on a nearby Red-tailed Hawk nest in anticipation of the day the hawks would lay their eggs and begin incubating. These photographs come to us from regular contributor, David Mimlitch.

Late in February David stopped by the site for a quick spot check, and he was excited to see that there was some activity in the nest. Bringing his camera to bear, David was surprised to see that the movement was not a Red-tailed Hawk incubating eggs, but instead it was a Fox Squirrel taking a dangerous detour through the unoccupied nest of one of its most deadly predators!
