The Armadillos were out in force at the Village Creek Drying Beds in Arlington, Texas this past weekend. We has a number of encounters, usually at close range. These guys do not have the best eyesight or hearing. They rely on their sense of smell for situational awareness, and their armor for protection. Add this to the fact that Armadillos are often found with their heads buried while rooting in the detritus, and you have a combination of factors that will often allow for point blank observations without the Armadillo even realizing you are there!
