This handsome Coyote was observed at the Village Creek Drying Beds in Arlington, Texas.

The Coyote saw me first and was beginning to flee when I finally spotted him. He had been hiding in the tall grass beside this pond when I arrived. He clearly wanted to put some distance between us, but his flight was casual. There was no panic.

The Coyote crossed the water deftly, and exited on the far side of the pond sporting black, tarry socks. After a couple of looks back in my direction to make sure I wasn’t following, he disappeared from view.

Just minutes after the Coyote had fled the scene, I spotted a Bobcat trotting down the dirt road on the opposite side of this drying bed. It was a very busy morning at the VCDB!
