A male American Kestrel photographed the Village Creek Drying Beds in Arlington, Texas. If you look carefully at the second picture below, you can see that the kestrel has captured a dragonfly which it is preparing to feed on.

At another location in the VCDB facility I observed a lone American Kestrel harass and drive off a much larger Cooper’s Hawk. After dispatching the Cooper’s Hawk, the kestrel then turned and did the same thing to Red-tailed Hawk hover hunting over the southwest corner of the property.
