The Army Corp of Engineers land around the southwest corner of Lake Lewisville can be divided into four roughly equal sized pieces. I use Old Alton Road and Hickory Creek as the demarcation lines.

Lately, I have spent most of my time in the area located to the east of Old Alton Road and to the north of Hickory Creek. That is the place where I conducted the Scouting Camera survey for this article, the purpose of which was to determine if there were any Feral Hogs in this section of the park.

I have heard rumors of Feral Hogs in this part of Denton County, and I have found frequent mention of them online as well. But, usually when Feral Hogs are present on a property their sign is abundantly evident. I have explored this area pretty thoroughly over the last several weeks, and I have yet to find any evidence of hogs. I decided to let my Scouting Cameras settle the question.

Two weeks later, after monitoring several heavily traveled game trails, I did not record a single picture of a wild pig. As you can see in the photographs below, it was all White-tailed Deer, all the time.

Indications are that there are no hogs in this particular part of the park. But, I realize this survey cannot be considered absolute proof of their absence. If you have seen Feral Hogs in or around this part of Denton County I hope you’ll let me know.
