It’s spider season in North Texas. These giant, 3in/8cm, Black and Yellow Garden Spiders were photographed in the Joppa Preserve area of the Great Trinity Forest in Dallas, Texas.

Webs 3ft/1m in diameter are a constant obstacle when hiking in the woods in these parts, because spiders like to build their webs in the open spaces created by trails. Fortunately these Black and Yellow Garden Spiders only look menacing. They are not aggressive towards humans.
