These Cattle Egrets were photographed while they foraged and congregated along the edges of a lake in the Great Trinity Forest. They were hunting insects and frogs in the tall grass along the shoreline. Occasionally, a few birds would enter the shallow water to wade. Groups of around eight individuals were frequently seen moving in and out of the area.

Later, I came across the scattered remains of an individual bird that had been preyed upon. White feathers were everywhere. This Cattle Egret was most likely the victim of a Coyote or Bobcat.
