I came across a pretty good size sounder of Feral Hogs this weekend in the Great Trinity Forest. The sounder included hogs of all ages. There were cute, little piglets, and big, ugly adults.

The hogs were rooting around in the soft mud along the shore of this body of water. I’m not sure what they were after. Mussels, crayfish, and Cattail tubers are all possibilities. Whatever they were finding over there, they were quite enthusiastic about it, and they rooted with gusto.

At one point, something spooked the sounder (perhaps the big guy with a camera on the other side of the lake) and they retreated back into the woods. Just a few minutes later they were back rooting away in another nearby clearing.
