This Superb Green Cicada was recorded in The Colony Texas. This large, noisy insect is part of a group of cicadas known as Dog-day Cicadas. They are so called because their high volume buzzing is the signature sound of long, hot Texas summers.

  1. They don’t stop the songs lol. I have too many in my tree in Princeton, tx have quite a few dead on ground.

  2. Just found one flipping around on my front porch in Plano. It’s friends are making quite the noise in my tree.

  3. Found one on my patio in west Plano. They made a mess in our big tree in the front yard. I took a picture, but I don’t know how or if I can attach it.

  4. June 2023: Around Benbrook Lake, in all the parks but especially Rocky Creek there are tons of these. While camping I saw about 30 per day up close and personal for 2 weeks straight. There was always 10± on my picnic table at night with the light on.
