White-tailed Deer doe and her young fawn following a well-worn cattle trail. This observation was made on an abandoned ranch in The Colony, Texas.

Here is what Wikipedia has to say about White-tailed Deer:

Since the second half of the nineteenth century, white-tailed deer have been introduced to Europe. A population of white-tailed deer in the Brdy area remains stable today. In 1935, white-tailed deer were introduced to Finland. The introduction was successful, and the deer have recently begun spreading through northern Scandinavia and southern Karelia, competing with, and sometimes displacing, native fauna. The current population of some 30,000 deer originate from four animals provided by Finnish Americans from Minnesota.

  1. These trail camera shots make me feel like a voyeur, allowing me to see animals just going about their business, completely unaware. The body postures and whole attitude are somehow private. Quite amazing. What do you think made the fawn stare right at the camera in the third shot? Such a wide-eyed look! Great work.

    1. I see this a lot with with the Scouting Cameras. Evidently, the cameras make a noticeable clicking noise when they are triggered. Its not a loud noise, just barely enough to attract the attention of most of the mammals I have photographed. The majority give it a look and then continue on with what they were doing. It sometimes has a more noticeable affect on Coyotes. The more wary individuals are clearly spooked by it.
