I observed these Mallards at Woodlake Pond in Carrollton.

Notable was a large group of male and female Mallards that frequently crossed back and forth across the road at the north end of the pond. This road roughly runs east-west. On the north side of the road there is a church with a large, well groomed lawn. There is a small drainage culvert on the church’s property which sometimes holds standing water. These Mallards are motivated to move back and forth across the road, sometimes several times a day, to reach the water in the drainage culvert. The folks who drive this road don’t seem to mind too much, and are always very careful to stop and allow every bird a chance to cross the road safely.
