I observed this Common Nighthawk in my backyard. The bird was sitting on my children’s swing set.

Nighthawks are commonly seen flying over parking lots at dusk or dawn, either singly or in pairs. They have distinctive white bands near the ends of each wing that make them easy to identify even in low light.
